Professional Diploma in Health and Social Care is to be awarded by the examining board ASET – making this a valuable qualification that’s recognized throughout the UK and the world at large. Aim
Aim of this programme is to develop necessary academic as well as practical skills together with the therapeutic abilities that would eventually result in students having a comprehensive, holistic understanding of health and social care that will provide a sound foundation for future employment, or further study at degree level
Programme Objective
The objectives of the programme are to:
- Enhance and formalize the skills of social care workers.
- Develop the health-promoting role of care workers and family carers.
- Provide students with a general introduction to the field of health studies
- Provide access to higher qualifications in the third-level sector
Duration: 2 years Full time
Structure
This course is designed for those who have a commitment to gain an understanding of health and social care activities and who want to pursue a career within these sectors. The course has been designed around the following themes health and social care policy and practice to ideological, legal, economic and ethical issues. This is a 2-year work-based supported learning programme. The course comprises four semesters of study and continuous work placement throughout the course. It equips students in the first year with the knowledge of the framework, as well as an orientation on the development and practice of Health and Social Care in the UK
In the year one the student has to study eight compulsory modules and in the year 2 one can choose 8 modules out of 10 modules. In the final year the student can specialize either in elderly or Disability.
