Apprenticeship Testimonial
I was looking for a reliable college to complete my Level 5 apprenticeship in Leadership & Management for adult care. I have previously had a bad experience with a college trying to complete this award. I searched for a college to support me through the award and I found London Cactus College, I made initial contact and was very pleasantly surprised how approachable and supportive they were right from my first contact. This gave me great confidence to continue my apprenticeship so I commenced. Once I began my apprenticeship my previous experience was very quickly alleviated and the team at London Cactus College gave me great confidence. All of the calls and queries were very promptly responded too and if the question couldn’t be answered immediately then my questions were answered swiftly, nothing has too much trouble. The team that will support you will not disappoint you. I have completed my apprenticeship as far as all of my units and I would very highly recommend London Cactus College to any of my colleagues and indeed other professionals that want a professional experience.
In my mid 40’s I was running two small businesses but not quite fulfilled and looking for a career change, I just wasn’t sure how to go about it. At the time my mother-in-law was living with us and we looked after her until she passed away. Shortly after I ended up selling my businesses and traveling with my wife. Sadly upon returning to the UK my wife became ill with leukemia and I ended up nursing her too. Friends encouraged me to consider becoming a home carer which they thought I would be good at. I approached LCC who provided me with great information, advice, and guidance so that I was able to make some informed decisions. I quickly signed up for a course and achieved my L2 Diploma in Adult Care and have been working as a Home Carer ever since.
I help people with all the little things that daily life brings. I listen to people, get to know them and their families, identity with their experiences and outlook on life, and I respond to their needs. I’ve known some of my clients for up to 10 years now. You become part of the family. It’s very rewarding at the end of the day to know you’ve helped people feel more cheerful and positive about themselves and the challenges they face. If you’re interested in getting qualified, London Cactus College is a great place to start.
Living in a close-knit mining community in Nottinghamshire I saw a lot of changes growing up. I saw strikes, pit closures, and a lot of damage within the community due to high unemployment rates. I wanted to do my part so I went on to work with adults and children in residential units within the community. Now I’m a Family Resource Worker working with young people and their parents providing assistance in keeping families going through the crisis together. I deal with a lot of cases consisting of offending, drug misuse, violence, and deprivation. Although this is happening in my experience kids have better chances if they can stay within their families.
After school, I took a basic Health and Social Care course then completed a variety of courses to progress. At some point, I felt ready for more and found London Cactus College. After reviewing my situation they advised me to do a Level 5 Diploma – Children and Young Peoples Manager, Families Manager within the Community, Manager to fulfill my dream of becoming a Social Worker. London Cactus College really put me on the right path! I love my job and the sense of doing something that makes a difference. But, I’ve also learned to be realistic. When you know how to best help people, it’s all worthwhile.
