Study Method

To assist you in completing this qualification we’ve pre-selected the modules best suited for remote learning, which will allow you to gain the broad spectrum of skills required.

To achieve this qualification, you need to be working in a real work setting as a leader or manager. This course is ideal for people working in both residential and community settings in both regulated and unregulated services. You will need to be able to demonstrate that you have responsibilities that will allow you to generate the required evidence at level 5. It is suggested that candidates have previously completed a level 3 or 4 Diploma in Adult Care. This qualification may also be suitable for people who are starting up care services.

We use a blended learning method, where you may be expected to complete assignments, essays, portfolios, research projects, posters, leaflets, presentations, PowerPoint presentations, video/audio recordings, work-based and practical learning sessions and observations to meet the requirements of your course. This information will be included in your study package detailing the exact things you will need to do to accomplish your goals as a student. There’s no need to worry as we will be there to assist you every step of the way.

Course Duration

You have up to a year to finish this course, so with that in mind we have included a suggested number of study hours per week. This is usually more than enough time for learners, even with full-time jobs and other commitments. Don’t worry if you go over the year, we can arrange an extension to your course for an additional fee, which also extends your tutor support.

Assessment

This qualification is based on showcasing competency and evidence collected by learners as they perform in their work role. This will form the basis of all learners’ portfolios. The evidence should reflect policies and procedures of the work place as stated by current government legislation.

Throughout the course of the qualification the candidate should preferably work with more than 1 service user. Varying assessment methods are going to be employed by the assessor including examining work products and expert witness testimonies as well as direct observation. An assessor will visit within the workplace at some point and undertake observations of the candidate at work. Arrangements for this will usually be made beforehand so as to scale back any disruptions to your work routine and to make sure a maximum amount of data is captured in one visit. Knowledge based units will be assessed employing a range of methods including reflective accounts, projects, assignments, assessor questions and professional discussions between the assessor and learner. Learners will have full access and support of assessors via telephone, email, and web links. We can’t wait to get you started.
