What do Functional Maths Skills do for you?
In general functional skills close in on giving you actual skills you can use in everyday life. By recreating scenarios and possible questions that reflect tasks you might do in real life. For example, you might read, write and arrange numbers, or figure out the nearest whole number for accuracy. These skills can easily be adapted to showcase real situations, such as reading the numbers on a gas meter or working out 10% of your bill so you know what to tip at a restaurant.
In contrast GCSE’s they concentrate on the academic side of things, while functional Skills provide immediate skills that employers are actually seeking. During this Course you will learn:
- How to easily Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers
- How to explain simple problems involving ratios
- Learn how to understand similarities between common fractions, decimals and percentages
- Learn how to calculate areas and perimeters in practical situations
- Learn how to extract and comprehend information from tables, diagrams, charts and graphs

Study Hours
It will take around 45 hours of study time to complete this course.
Study Method
During this course, you may be asked to complete assignments, essays, research projects, presentations, video/audio recordings, and practical learning sessions to meet the necessary requirements of your course. The correct information will be included in your study package detailing exactly what you need to know in order to accomplish your goals as a student.
Course Duration
You have up to a 6 months to finish this course. However, on average our students usually complete this course within 2-3 Months of starting. No need to worry if you need more time, for an additional fee we can always arrange an extension to your course, which also extends your tutor support.
Assessment
This course has been designed for remote learning study. To successfully pass the course, you’ll complete a series of practice papers and then with your tutor’s approval, you’ll be allocated a date and time for your final examinations.
Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, successful learners will be awarded a formal certificate of achievement by NCFE CACHE. This training course has been specifically designed to meet the needs of learners who prefer to study from the convenience of their own home.
